The BMW snow chains are easy to mount and provide the best possible traction. As they are perfectly fitted to the tyres, they do not require any additional rim protection, and an integrated steel hoop makes them very easy to mount.

The intuitive BMW tyre mobility set makes it easy to get back on the road in the event of a flat tyre. Regardless of the tyre dimensions, damage on the tyre tread of less than 4 mm can be fixed, making it possible to continue driving to the next BMW Service partner.

PRODUCTION.

Every BMW Wheel is a reflection of our high demands on durability and our dynamic, static and simulation testing goes far beyond legal requirements. The result is a high-quality wheel that you can rely on in every situation - elegant in style, uncompromising in substance.
Casting.
Original BMW Wheels are cast from molten aluminium. The liquid metal is filled into a mold where it cools before it is removed, strictly monitored by the latest computer technology which guarantees the high quality of our wheels. This casting process reduces costs and allows a high degree of precision and freedom of design. Cast wheels are low in weight and high in stiffness.
Forging and Milling.
In the forging process, the wheel is forged from the solid piece of aluminum. The high-end option is to mill the entire spoke design after forging the base material. Forged aluminium wheels are 10 to 20 per cent lighter in weight than aluminium cast wheels and allow a more delicate design of the spokes.
Flow forming.
Flow-forming is a pressure shaping process. While the cast wheel is spinning, pressure is exerted on the inner barrel. This process stretches and compresses the aluminium. It thus leads to an increase in tensile strength, which makes it possible to achieve particularly low wall thickness values for the rim. The result is an especially light and stable wheel. It offers distinct advantages in terms of impact resistance, elongational strain and load-bearing capacity.
Undercutting.
This process is employed for both forged and cast wheels. Parts of the wheel with no relevance to the strength are reduced by machining the material from the spokes. And the weight of the wheel is further reduced. Undercutting between the spoke connection and the rim well base achieves additional high-quality style elements with a 3D appearance in the rim design.
Surface Design.
Regardless of the manufacturing technology, the surface of the Original BMW light alloy wheels can be processed in a large number of different ways. The basic process of powder coating gives the wheel resistance to environmental factors such as corrosive de-icing road salt. In the past, light alloy wheels were often marketed with silver paintwork and sealed with a transparent varnish. Today, there are numerous designs and refinements in the BMW portfolio, which require a sophisticated finishing process.
