In fully-autonomous Ease Mode, the Companion takes over all driving duties.
It ensures passengers are brought safely to their destination and provides them
with updates about their route, road conditions and the car’s performance
along the way.
The Companion alerts the driver to potential dangers before they're seen
by communicating with other vehicles and traffic systems.
The Companion supports drivers with information in two ways. Firstly, in a conscious way via the Head-Up Display that covers the vehicle’s entire front windscreen. And secondly, preconsciously via Alive Geometry: a mosaic of sensor-activated triangles that extends across the top of the car’s dashboard. The information that this provides intuitively helps the driver react more quickly to upcoming driving situations.
In Boost Mode, everything revolves around your driving performance.
That’s why the Head-Up Display will show you ideal driving lines and braking,
steering or acceleration points directly in your field of vision.
Switch driving modes in the blink of an eye: simply touch the BMW
logo on the steering wheel to change between Ease Mode and Boost Mode.
The BMW VISION NEXT 100 sports dynamic wheel arches that help reduce
drag and lower energy consumption. Fully closed during straight-line driving, the wheel
arches remain flush to the car’s streamlined body for optimal aerodynamics. But whenever
the car turns they move in or out of the vehicle body in perfect sync with the wheels.
The BMW VISION NEXT 100 fuses stunning streamlined design with a fully-closed
outer shell to deliver exceptionally low drag of just 0.18 cW. Its optimised aerodynamic
design creates a breathtaking profile that runs boldly from its iconic double front grilles
to tapered rear like a single aesthetic brushstroke.
The interior finishings in the BMW VISION NEXT 100 are 100% leather-free
and were produced using printable mono-materials. These optimise the production
process as they can, for example, be printed directly with paint. Easy to recycle,
they also enable a more ecologically efficient use of materials.
