At BMW Group, sustainability has many facets. The sustainability series entitled “WIRkung” emphasises joint efforts to achieve an impact, employees present their contributions towards the further development of the BMW Group.
INCREASED BIODIVERSITY THROUGH BEES.
BMW Group is joining forces with its employees to pursue many small initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and species. Various bee species and colonies have found a new home at different BMW Group locations. The idea originates from employees and provides an important contribution towards more biodiversity.
At Plant Oxford we have four active beehives which are managed by employees. At Plant Hams Hall Tree Bumbles took up residence in a bird box in the court yard. At Plant Swindon a colony of bees live in a mature horse chestnut tree in the wildlife area of the plant. The wildlife area also houses a pond and a well-established orchard including apple, cherry and plumb trees, providing a multitude of different habitats for local wildlife.

Through our multi-faceted involvement, we also make a contribution towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.

We have an ongoing commitment to a more sustainable future that can be seen at every stage of our vehicles’ lifecycle. In terms of car production, our approach is built upon 4 pillars – re:think, re:use, re:duce and re:cycle.
