The BMW PGA Championship returned to Wentworth Club in 2018 and BMW was once again proud to be the title sponsor of the opening event of the prestigious Rolex Series.
As one of the most recognised events in the world of professional golf and a highlight of the European sporting calendar, the BMW PGA Championship provides entertainment and activities for all, live concerts, and a star-studded Wednesday Pro-Am.
Molinari cruises to victory.
Italy’s Francesco Molinari displayed a cool head and a razor-sharp game to see off the challenge of Rory McIlroy in the final round of the championship.
With an outward half of 32, he came home in 36 for a 17-under-par total of 271 and victory by two strokes over McIlroy (70) and three over Alex Noren (SWE), the 2017 champion, and Lucas Bjerregaard (DEN), the first round leader.
“It feels amazing,” the delighted winner said. “I have been close many times and now I’ve finally got across the line. If I picked one tournament to win, it would be the BMW PGA Championship”.
Visitors were able to step away from the action on course and get social in the BMW Championship Village, where merchandise, food and drinks could be found at the Theatre of Food and the BMW Owners’ Lounge.
For those who were looking for a more hands-on experience, there was the X-Club Challenge, which is an urban golf experience that features the new BMW X2.
Driving a greener course.
As part of BMW’s vision for a more sustainable PGA Championship, there was the BMW Vision Garden, which showcased the future of mobility and electrified vehicles, and also the BMW PGA courtesy fleet. This included a variety of electrified vehicles. What’s more, the BMW Owners' lounge provided recyclable cups instead of plastic bottles of water.
