BMW STARS AT 2019 CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW (CES).

The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which ran from January 8 – 11, was the perfect occasion for BMW to showcase some of its latest innovations, such as the BMW Vision iNEXT concept car and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. To help visitors understand and embrace the future of mobility, BMW also provided immersive experiences including the ‘Favourite Space’ area and the iNEXT virtual driving experience.

Being highly automated, emission-free, and fully connected, the BMW Vision iNEXT represents a glimpse into the future of The Ultimate Driving Machine.

Gaining much attention at CES 2019 were the two new driving modes: Boost mode and Ease mode. Boost mode uses the electric drivetrain to deliver a highly dynamic and virtually silent driving experience with zero emissions. Ease mode allows the vehicle to create space for the driver and passengers to engage in a wide range of activities.

Also making a strong impression was the introduction of BMW’s Shy-Tech. This is essentially in-car technology that is ready to help driver and passengers, but is not easily seen. These out-of-sight innovations include the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, Intelligent Materials, which turns almost any surface into a digital experience, and Intelligent Beam. This serves as both a dynamic reading light and an interactive projection screen.

Relax in your Favourite Space.

In line with our vision of the future, enhanced quality of life was one of the core messages for BMW at CES 2019. To bring this concept to life for visitors, BMW turned a traditional exhibition stand into the ‘Favourite Space.’

Featuring natural and inviting aesthetics with a garden-like entrance area and hidden ‘Shy’ technologies such as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which greeted visitors as they arrived, the ‘Favourite Space’ guided people through the exhibition and created an individual retreat to immerse in.

As part of this, a sophisticated mixed-reality installation also provided a virtual impression of the future driving experience promised by the BMW Vision iNEXT.

The simulation placed visitors in the year 2025. Set in a futuristic megacity, virtual drivers would take a seat in the new BMW Vision iNEXT and let the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant guide them through the experience. From here, everything from augmented-reality screens with helpful information to in-car conference calls in Executive Mode demonstrated BMW’s vision of the future of mobility.
