With more than 140,000 electrified vehicles sold globally in 2018, which includes both all-electric and plug-in hybrids, BMW has solidified its position as the class leader in electric mobility. This strong 2018 performance now accounts for 6% of total BMW and MINI sales in 2018, with Europe serving as its most enthusiastic market. It represents 50% of electric sales, with 75,000 electric vehicles sold in European markets in 2018.
“Since launching the BMW i3 in 2013, the BMW Group has rapidly grown its sales of electrified vehicles,” said Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. “This great sales result and our impressive market share proves our vehicles are what the customer wants.
This positive trend looks set to continue. By the end of 2019, BMW expects to have more than half a million electrified vehicles on the roads, and by 2025, with at least 25 electrified models in the range.
