Mobility re-imagined.

Our passion for design and aesthetics is reflected in our artistic collaborations. Working together with leading designers from non-automotive fields in recent years has led to a number of inspiring works full of creativity. The interpretation of design topics relating to the latest series-production models opens up new perspectives and enables an inspiring conversation with designers.

QUIET MOTION (Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, 2013).

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec interpret the future of mobility.
The BMW i focus on lightweight construction, transparency, eco-friendly materials and the new quiet driving experience inspired the designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to create their installation, QUIET MOTION, a symbol of noiseless driving.
Four rotating platforms made of sustainable BMW i typical materials invited visitors to the Salone del Mobile 2013 to simply relax. The installation interprets movement and contemplation and, at the same time, depicts the pioneering vehicle design of BMW i in a minimalistic and aesthetic form.

The Dwelling Lab (Patricia Urquiola and Giulio Ridolfo, 2010).

Designed from the inside out. The sensuality of space.
The culpture 'Dwelling Lab' by Patricia Urquiola and Giulio Ridolfo, based on the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, turns viewing conventions upside down: it enables the viewer to experience the interior before the exterior.
The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo was developed from the inside out. It interprets the interior as a space for dwelling that needs to be designed and used. This principle inspired Patricia Urquiola to employ innovative material to design the interior of the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo as an atomospheric space for adventure.

SESTOSENSO (Paul Cocksedge, 2011).

Light – Magic – Technology.
Inspired by the full-LED headlights of the BMW 6 Series Coupé, light designer Paul Cocksedge reinterpreted the theme of ‘light’ with ‘SESTOSENSO’. His mystic light installation places the focus on the magic of this technology.
The new full-LED headlights seem to create light invisibly and inspired Paul Cocksedge to exploit this effect in his installation SESTOSENSO. Only when the viewer looks through the red lamps does the magic power of the light become visible. Previously invisible, the BMW 6 Series Coupé suddenly appears.
