CONVINCINGLY POWERFUL. SURPRISINGLY EFFICIENT.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo engines in the BMW X3.

The versatility of the BMW X3 continues through to the diesel engines, which prove themselves to be genuine all-rounders. Increased efficiency and responsiveness is provided by a combination of the latest injection technologies and fully variable performance control with innovative turbocharger technology. The result is impressive performance with remarkably low fuel consumption and emission values. One particularly efficient member of the range is the latest-generation BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.

BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel engines.

BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel engines boast agile dynamics with low fuel consumption and emission figures. This is enabled by BMW EfficientDynamics technologies working in tandem with common rail direct injection, multistage turbocharging and variable turbine geometry. The engine in the BMW X3 xDrive35d impresses with 313 hp of power and 630 Nm of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds. In terms of fuel consumption, the engine achieves 47.0 mpg. In the BMW X3 xDrive30d, the engine generates an output of 258 hp and supplies the maximum torque of 560 Nm at just 1,500 rpm. When accelerating from 0 to 62 mph, this BMW X3 needs just 5.9 seconds, while fuel consumption remains at a modest 46.3 to 49.5* mpg and CO2 emissions are only 159 to 149* g/km. Thanks to BMW BluePerformance, both engines comply with the EU6 emissions standard. All figures were determined in accordance with the EU test cycle and depend on the selected tyre format. * The lowest figure was achieved with the special equipment SA 2AM 17-inch light alloy wheels Streamline 306, which are subject to an additional charge.

BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.

Innovative BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, common rail direct injection and aluminium lightweight construction combine to impressive effect in the redeveloped four-cylinder diesel engine powering the BMW X3. The result is remarkable performance with a further improvement in fuel economy and emissions. Particularly economical figures come from the entry model among the diesels, the BMW X3 sDrive18d. It achieves fuel consumption figures of 55.4 to 60.1* mpg (with 8-speed Steptronic transmission 54.3 to 58.8* mpg) and CO2 emissions of 134 to 124* g/km (with eight-speed Steptronic transmission 136 to 126* g/km). The vehicle is far more generous in respect to its driving performance, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph within 9.5 seconds (with eight-speed Steptronic transmission 9.8 seconds) and has a top speed of 121 mph. In contrast, the slightly larger engine of the BMW X3 xDrive20d achieves a maximum speed of 130 mph, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 8.1 seconds. Again, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions remain low, with figures of 50.4 to 54.3 mpg (with eight-speed Steptronic transmission 52.3 to 56.5* mpg) and 146 to 136 g/km (with eight-speed Steptronic transmission 141 to 131* g/km). Thanks to BMW BluePerformance, the four-cylinder diesel engine also complies with the EU6 emissions standard. All figures were determined in accordance with the EU test cycle and depend on the selected tyre format. * The lowest figure was achieved with the special equipment SA 2AM 17-inch light alloy wheels Streamline 306, which are subject to an additional charge.
