The BMW M3 Saloon: extremely sporty, with an iconic presence and performance steeped in efficient dynamics. Every design element, from the large air inlets and expressive light-alloy wheels to the athletic rear, underscores the power of this high-performance sports car.
The side view of the BMW M3 combines the DNA of a high-performance sports car with the everyday usability of a four-door saloon.
The forward-angled front, with its high-gloss black double-bar kidney grille, M3 emblem and large air inlets is complemented by the dynamic design of the all-LED headlights. Their design and impressive brilliance ensure daytime visibility, and perfectly illuminate the road ahead at night.
The rear view, with its wide track, creates a lasting impression. Progressive-design LED rear lights accentuate the resolute stance, as do the wide high-performance tyres. The M rear spoiler increases the downforce for improved aerodynamics. And the M diffuser and angled M twin exhaust pipes blend perfectly into the rear apron, with its characteristic air outlets.
The two inlets for the Air Curtain and the M gill elements on the sides - part of the Air Breather function - reduce aerodynamic drag around the wheel arches. This optimises the aerodynamic performance and, coincidentally, raises the heart rate.
As part of the BMW intelligent lightweight construction concept, the carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof helps to reduce the vehicle's weight, and lowers the car's centre of gravity. This increases agility and dynamics when taking a bend, and when accelerating and braking.
The rear lights are all LEDs - their elongated L-shape forms a fluid transition from the luggage compartment lid, accentuating the distinctive styling of the rear end.
A more sporty interior is hard to imagine. An ergonomic M leather steering wheel with two M Drive buttons for activating individual vehicle set-ups. A cockpit with an M-specific instrument cluster. Perfect bucket-style M seats. In short, it’s an atmosphere infused with dynamism and technological progress.
The M-design instrument display falls naturally into the driver’s field of vision, as does the ergonomic leather M steering wheel. M Drive buttons, positioned centrally, active individual car set-ups. And if the M double-clutch transmission is specified, there are shift paddles behind the steering wheel, which has the outside trimmed with with soft nappa leather.
The bucket-style M seats, integral head restraints and illuminated M logo offer perfect side support and encourage new personal bests. Their lightweight construction helps to reduce the vehicle’s weight, while for extra support during sporty driving, there is a knee pad on the driver’s side of the centre console.
When the M character is taken to the next level, it’s apparent in the details: for example, on the centre console, where selected elements such as the radio and climate control are highlighted in chrome.
Driving at the limit and immersing yourself in an exclusive, sporty atmosphere is not a contradiction in the BMW M3 Saloon - the M seats have the same excellent build quality as the entire interior. A prime example is the fine-grain Merino leather in Opal White from the BMW Individual Collection.
Genuine exclusivity stands up to the scrutiny of a second glance, such as the interior trim strips in Piano Black finish, an option from the BMW Individual Collection. With their high-gloss surface finish, they add a finishing touch to the sporty, progressive design of the entire interior.
BMW EfficientLightweight is a construction approach that uses ultra-light materials - a top priority in M vehicles - and ensures significant weight saving while boosting body rigidity. The benefits include a weight distribution of almost 50:50, and a lower vehicle centre of gravity. When driving, this means improved directional stability and traction, along with better dynamics and agility.
