DELEGATE TO RELIABLE HELPERS.

BMW ConnectedDrive Driving Assistant systems in the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé.

Numerous innovative technologies support you during your journey, guaranteeing top-class comfort and safety. This means you can focus on what really matters − carefree driving pleasure.

Driving Assistant.

Drive Assist Plus not only includes the Drive Assist systems, Lane Departure Warning, approach control and person warning with light city braking function, but also the active cruise control with Stop&Go function for additional comfort.
Active Cruise Control maintains a speed determined by the driver, as well as the distance to the car ahead. In slow-moving traffic or traffic jams, the vehicle takes over accelerating and braking, and the selected distance to the car ahead is maintained down to a stop. If a vehicle ahead brakes heavily, the BMW responds immediately when the Approach Warning is activated. The system operates in steps. A warning icon is first displayed, then the icon begins flashing and an acoustic warning is emitted, and finally the car brakes firmly.

BMW HEAD-UP DISPLAY.

The full colour BMW Head-up Display projects all information relevant to the journey directly into the driver's field of vision, thereby allowing them to fully concentrate on driving. The display includes data such as speed, navigation tips, speed limit information, no-overtaking indicator, telephone and entertainment lists, along with information and warnings from the various driver assistance systems.
The icons projected onto the windscreen are displayed in a particularly high resolution and in full colour. The image's projection appears as if it were 2.3 m in front of the vehicle. This, in combination with optimal positioning, allows the information to be read quickly, conveniently and with minimal distraction.
The brightness of the projection automatically adjusts to match exterior light conditions. Additionally, there are also daytime and night-time settings, and the height of the projection can also be adjusted. Furthermore, the driver can also select which information to display in addition to the current speed and warnings from the Drive Assist systems.

Park Assistance.

Park Assist makes parallel parking easier. Whether activated or not, the system measures potential spaces while driving past at a low speed (below 21 mph) and at a maximum distance of 1.5 m from the row of parked cars. When a large enough gap has been found, the driver simply turns on the indicator and the Parking assistant takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the accelerator, gears and brakes. The system also gives instructions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. So the driver can stay relaxed and enjoy greater safety while parking.

BMW Night Vision with person recognition.

BMW Night Vision with person recognition provides the driver with a range of vision that well exceeds the beam of light from the headlights, making it possible to identify people and large animals from a significant distance at night.
An infrared camera mounted on the BMW kidney grille transmits images from the front of the vehicle onto the Control Display. This allows the driver to identify people and animals at a distance of up to about 300m.
While taking account of the vehicle speed and steering angle, the system also calculates whether the identified objects pose an actual risk. In the event of acute danger, a flashing red icon (animal or person) is displayed in the video image and in the optional BMW Head-up Display. An acoustic alarm is also sounded and the brakes are primed for optimum readiness.
This warning system is automatically activated when the vehicle is started. In the event of danger, the system therefore even emits a warning when the imaging display has not been activated. BMW Night Vision with person recognition is an innovation from BMW ConnectedDrive.

BMW Selective Beam.

With BMW Selective Beam, driving at night is safer and more comfortable. It provides excellent visibility in the dark without dazzling other drivers. The system detects others on the road and selectively excludes them from the high-beam headlight distribution. A beam range of 400 metres ensures early detection of risks and improved directional tracking.

Surround View.

Surround View includes the camera-based functions Top View, Side View and rear view camera. Cameras in the exterior mirrors and a rear view camera provide a 270° view around the vehicle.
Top View displays the areas on the side of the car for more convenient maneuvering. The Side View allows for safer navigation of areas with low visibility like exits or confusing intersections. Two digital cameras on the left and right of the front of the car capture the traffic situation in front of the vehicle. This enables early detection of oncoming traffic so that the driver can react appropriately. The Side View function is automatically deactivated when the car reaches 9 mph. The driver can then choose to activate the rear view camera, Top View or Side View.
The camera systems are activated when the car is put into reverse or the PDC button or Side View button is pressed. The image is shown on the Control Display.

Professional Navigation System with iDrive Touch Controller.

The Professional Navigation System features a sleek design and a superior range of services: The easy to use navigation system is perfectly integrated into the iDrive Controller and Control Display operation concepts.
The system comprises the hands-free facility with USB interface and voice control, the BMW Professional radio with DVD drive, as well as a 20 GB memory for audio files. The most popular POIs (points of interest) are listed as a symbol (petrol station, hotel, etc.) according to search frequency in the POI menu. A fixed, high-resolution (1440 x 540 pixels) 10.2-inch colour display with split-screen function guarantees optimal readability and clarity.
Its intuitive operation is carried out using the iDrive Touch Controller, its touch-sensitive surface allowing the driver to easily enter destination addresses in their own handwriting. Alternatively, the system can also be operated via direct menu control buttons, the eight functional bookmarks or voice control. Thanks to the three-dimensional map display including satellite images as a map background – with photo-realistic depictions of selected sights – navigation becomes an exciting visual experience.

iDrive Touch Controller

The iDrive Touch Controller (part of Professional Navigation System) enables the Control Display to be conveniently operated with a single hand. Thanks to the touchpad integrated into the Controller, it is easy to enter information such as destinations for the navigation system in handwriting.
The Controller can also be rotated and pressed to access many functions, change various settings and scroll through lists. It can be easily and intuitively operated, as it is based on one's sense of touch. This makes life especially easy for the driver since it keeps distraction from traffic to an absolute minimum. All functions operated using the Controller can be viewed clearly in the Control Display.
