The BMW TwinPower Turbo engines in the new BMW 6 Series Convertible.

Three BMW TwinPower Turbo engines from BMW EfficientDynamics are available for the BMW 6 Series Convertible. They combine cutting-edge injection systems, fully variable power control and innovative turbocharger technology. The result is outstanding figures for both performance and efficiency.

BMW TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine.

Just a light touch on the accelerator pedal is all it takes to ensure that the power of the eight-cylinder petrol engine makes a ride in the BMW 6 Series Convertible a true experience. And the BMW 650i boasts fuel consumption figures of just 9.1 to 8.9 litres per 100 kilometres with CO2 emissions of 213 to 208 g/km. With two turbochargers, Valvetronic including Double-VANOS and High Precision Injection, the engine accelerates with an outstanding 330 kW (450 hp) and a maximum torque of 650 Nm in just 4.6 seconds from 0 to 62 mph. The central positioning of the exhaust turbochargers in the V-space of the cylinder banks allows for a highly compact engine, thereby reducing weight. Together with the lightweight suspension and the optimised aerodynamics, the BMW 6 Series Convertible provides unique agility, perfect roadholding and absolutely precise handling. The BMW 650i meets the EU6 emission standard.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo inline petrol engine in the BMW 640i combines revolutionary technologies with innovative fine-tuning. The TwinScroll turbocharger and Valvetronic feed fresh air into the combustion chambers. Here the High Precision Injection creates a precisely harmonised fuel-air mixture within milliseconds while Double-VANOS perfectly adapts engine output to the engine speed range. The result: maximum efficiency and power across a wide engine speed and an immediate response at all times. The BMW 640i meets the EU6 emission standard.

BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder diesel engine.

The BMW 640d offers impressive output, fast power build-up and low fuel consumption. The basis for this is innovative BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which combines CommonRail direct injection and multi-stage turbocharging with variable turbine geometry. This significantly reduces fuel consumption while, at the same time, powerfully increasing output. High torque of 630 Nm is available even at just 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. The extremely smooth-running and spontaneously responsive BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder diesel engine has an output of 230 kW (313 hp), thereby providing impressive pulling power. Acceleration to 62 mph takes just 5.5 seconds from a standing. In combination with other BMW EfficientDynamics measures, it was possible to additionally lower fuel consumption to just 5.8 to 5.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 153 to 144 g/km. The BMW 640d meets the EU6 emission standard.
