MINI holds its value.
MINIs are still depreciation proof even after 12 months
BMW MINIs are giving depreciation a wide berth.
New figures show that even the earliest examples are selling for just a few hundred pounds less than they cost new, despite being over a year old and having covered thousands of miles.
A ’00 51 MINI One with 8K on the clock which cost £11,255 last year would retail for £11,000 today, while a £13,305 Cooper would still be worth £13,200.
Those figures shame even the Honda Civic Type-R, which topped a table for the slowest-depreciating hot hatches in last week’s Autocar.
"It won’t last forever, but you can expect the MINI to be one of the slowest-depreciating small cars for several years yet," said Autocar’s used car expert, Chas Hallett.
MINIs accounted for almost half of all BMWs sold in the UK so far this year. Over 18,500 have found homes since January – more than Seat, Suzuki or Jaguar sold across their entire ranges.
